# Generate an image or video

Use **Gen AI** to create an individual asset. You can open it from the top navigation or while editing a scene.

Gen AI’s current input and generation controls

## Set up the generation

1. Choose **Image**, **Video**, **Avatar**, or **Upscale**.
2. Choose the use case that matches what you want to do.
3. Add the required inputs. Some models use text; others require images, video, or audio.
4. Write the prompt.
5. Review **Style**, **Model**, **Provider**, and the settings available for that model.
6. Check the quantity and credit cost, then choose **Generate**.

The available settings change with the model. Video models may include duration; image models may include resolution. Reference limits and file types also vary.

## Write a useful prompt

Start with what must be in the result, then add the details that matter.

> Close-up of coffee pouring into a white ceramic cup on a wooden counter. Soft morning window light. Keep the background simple and leave space above the cup for a headline.

For video, describe the movement too. Keep the first attempt focused on one action.

## Review the result

Check the subject, composition, consistency, and motion before using the asset. If one part is wrong, make a specific change to the prompt or inputs before generating another version.

When working inside a scene, confirm which result is assigned. In standalone Gen AI, return to your project when you’re ready to use the asset.

## If Generate is unavailable

Look for a missing prompt or required input. Check the selected model’s reference limit, plan availability, and credit requirement. If you change models, review the settings again; the new model may support different inputs or formats.
