# Keep characters and products consistent

References give the generation a visual starting point. Use them for the person, location, product, or visual identity that needs to carry across scenes.

## Add a reference

In Gen AI, open **Add references**, then choose **Add references** from the menu to browse the library. Use **Upload** when you want to add a file from your computer.

The reference picker includes **Character**, **Location**, **Product**, **Brand kit**, **Color Palette**, and **Props**.

The reference categories and library controls

Choose the relevant items and confirm the selection. Check that they appear among the inputs before generating.

## Give each reference a clear job

For a product video, use a clear product image and describe what should stay the same. For a recurring character, keep the key appearance details consistent in the prompt.

A brand kit or color palette helps communicate visual direction. Review generated logos, text, packaging, and colors closely before using the result.

## Respect the model’s limits

The number and type of references depend on the model. If you reach the limit, remove an input before adding another. When changing models, check that the new model supports your existing references.

References guide the output; they do not remove the need to review it. Check each scene before generating a full set.
